Why core aeration is used
Foot traffic, mowing equipment and normal seasonal use gradually compact soil. Core aeration removes small plugs from the lawn so air, water and nutrients have easier access to the root zone. It also creates openings where new seed can contact the soil instead of resting on top of existing grass or thatch.
Aeration is a practical maintenance step, not an instant cosmetic treatment. The plugs normally break down naturally, and the visible improvement depends on the lawn's starting condition, weather, watering and continued care.
Why overseeding follows aeration
Overseeding introduces fresh grass seed into an established lawn to help improve density and fill thin areas. Our Premium program uses a blend selected for Northern Ontario conditions. Aerating first gives more seed a chance to reach the soil.

What homeowners need to do afterward
New seed needs consistent moisture while it establishes. Watering requirements change with temperature and rainfall, so the lawn should be kept evenly moist without creating standing water. Traffic should be limited on newly seeded areas, and mowing should wait until the new growth is ready.
We provide service-specific instructions when the work is scheduled. No lawn-care treatment can guarantee perfect germination because weather, watering, soil and existing turf conditions remain important.
